Mrs. Snider - Classroom Spotlight

Can you create a board game out of a mystery novel? Mrs. Snider's 8th grade English Language Arts class recently completed unit 1 up by working together to show their creativity and comprehension of "The Westing Game" by Ellen Raskin. This novel is a Newberry Award Winner and was picked based on a genre survey.

Mrs. Snider's 8th grade class read the novel and analyzed the story through literature discussion and chapter questions. The students used the novel to display their knowledge of literary elements in a fictional text by working in small groups to create a board game with 30 questions and their answers from the novel.

The students then played their board games to self-reflect and decide what is missing from their game or what they could add to it to make the game more fun and effective.
