Mrs. Williams - Classroom Spotlight

In high school physical education, it is our goal to help all students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to be physically active in and out of school and throughout their lives.  This philosophy strives to instill in all students the desire to make physical activity and exercise a part of their daily lives.  Our goal is for all students to understand the importance of how a physically active lifestyle can benefit not only their physical development and health, but their mental, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual health as well.

This week our PE program has begun our Volley-Tennis unit.  Volley-Tennis is a fun and exciting game that incorporates rules from both volleyball and tennis.  This is an activity where any student can be successful and is usually a favorite of most students because of that reason.  Our goal is to continue to work on basic locomotor, non locomotor, and manipulative movements, while also emphasizing cardiovascular endurance and working to stay within our target heart rates during the majority of our class.  

We also have one hour of Strength and Conditioning, which is an advanced class offered to juniors and seniors here at Forreston.  It provides an opportunity for development of strength and conditioning for various sports and fitness related activities. Free weights and fitness related activities are incorporated to promote improvement in strength, endurance, balance, agility, and speed.

 All in all, we are seeing some great things happening in our physical education programs and will continue to teach and promote life long fitness that will hopefully benefit our students far beyond their time here at Forreston.
